Plants We Love: Victorian Lady

Hello everyone! In this month’s installment of Plants We Love we wanted to highlight one of the greatest beauties that grows in Coastal California. The Queen of our garden here is our Victorian Lady. She is is an Abutilon, which is sometimes known as a Flowering Maple. Ours was gifted to us and came from a reputable nursery, but really struggled to survive for the first 6 months. Oddly, we occasionally get flowers from the base she was grafted on to, which appears to be a yellow Abutilon. It’s the most insane thing! No one we know has ever seen this happen. When it happens, we have pink Victorian Lady flowers on some branches and yellow flowers on others. So strange!
