Lover's Lane

Nestled in the Cypress and Eucalyptus of the Presidio’s east end is Lover’s Lane. It’s a magical walk that takes you from Tennessee Hollow, near the Main Post, up to the southern historic Presidio Wall. It’s the oldest walking path in the Presidio and was named Lover’s Lane as it connected the many soldiers at the Presidio with the women they were dating just outside the Presidio and often couples would meander down this magical lane.

This is the beginning of a great walk through the Presidio. A several-mile journey starts here, goes along the south edge of the Presidio Wall, up to the Presidio Golf Course, over onto Mountain Lake Trail and through the forest over to the National Cemetery. From there, you are a short walk back to the Main Post, near Lover’s Lane!
