Fresh Faced: Laura Mercier

I ordered new Laura Mercier makeup recently, and found it a bit overwhelming to choose the right shades online. Anyone else stress over buying makeup without seeing it in person first?! I’ve always loved Laura Mercier for her soft, more natural look. I’m not a makeup pro so I always go for a natural look. I decided to share my thoughts in case anyone else is trying to buy new makeup from home these days.

What I Bought:

  1. Blush Colour Infusion Powder Blush in Chai

  2.  Lip Glacé Lip Gloss in Bonbon

  3. Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Mahogony Brown

There was a gift with purchase so I also got a few bonus items to try out:

  1. Caviar Volume Mascara in Glossy Black

  2. Translucent Loose Setting Powder

  3. Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick in Rouge Ultime

  4. Blush Colour Infusion Powder Blush in Rose

What I thought:

  • Cheeks: I like both the blushes. I’ve used “Wild Bouquet” blush from Laura Mercier for years and was looking for a good replacement. Neither Chai or Rose are a perfect substitute but both look good on. The Translucent Powder is nice but not something I would buy.

    • Chai: A lighter touch bronzer

    • Rose: Pretty pink, I only use a tiny bit

  • Lips: I liked both the lipstick and the lipgloss. I think I’d buy the lipgloss in a few more shades as the Bonbon is slightly more orange than it showed on the Nordstrom site.

    • Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick in Rouge Ultime: Great color but (as with all lipstick) not forgiving as you apply.

    •  Lip Glacé Lip Gloss in Bonbon: Great texture and wearability. Bonbon is slightly more orange than I expected so I’d like to try it in a few bluer hues.

  • Eyes: I was disappointed by both the powder eyeliner and mascara. Neither seemed to work well.

    • Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Mahogony Brown: Very disappointed with this. The powder isn’t “powdery” and it’s quite difficult to get any on a Q-tip, brush, or even a beauty blender.

    • Caviar Volume Mascara in Glossy Black: I wasn’t impressed by the mascara. Volume would be a misnomer here.

I’ll post a follow up showing the makeup on my skin in a few different lights. Hopefully this is helpful if anyone is shopping for new makeup online these days!
